Doing Feminist Legal Work (DFLW) Conference
'Feminist Drafting: Legislation, Activism & Reflection?'
School of Law, University Limerick · January 17th, 2025
‘Feminist Drafting: Legislation, Activism & Reflection?’ focuses on theories of feminist drafting, including prefiguration as a technique, on examples of feminist activism using drafting across multiple areas of the law such as reproductive rights, equality and family law as well as workshopping how further practical and theoretical steps could be taken across the island in the future.
The conference will bring together a range of experience and knowledge on feminist drafting, as well as developing links amongst those working on or interested in legal feminist issues across the island to consider how this work might be done in the future.
Speakers include Prof Fiona de Londras, Dr Eithne Dowds, Dr Sinéad Ring, Prof Aisling McMahon, Dr Shivaun Quinlivan, Prof Aoife O’Donoghue, Dr Susan Leahy and Prof Lucy-Ann Buckley
Doing Feminist Legal Work (DFLW) is a new network of Feminist Legal Scholars. DFLW centres on Ireland and Northern Ireland and builds on existing, but ad hoc, collaborations to build a sustainable network of feminist scholars across the island.
